JT - John Taylor (book stated he inspected the Merrill, Latrobe & Thomas carbines, but because they did not pass inspection, no MLT's found with his script-stamped cartouche)

PB - Philip Burkhart (inspected 100 1841 Mississippi's, 100 1842 Springfields, 100 1847 Musketoons August '60; need to look at those examples and determine if any have script-stamped PB cartouche)


RP - Richard Paine (book had no mention that Paine inspected Merrills, but script-stamped cartouche is perfect match with these two serials)

STB - Samuel T. Bugbee (book stated in June ['63] he was sent to Baltimore to inspect Merrillls; maybe the block-stamped "B" in letter section below relate to Bugbee? )


TKL - Thomas K. Laley (book statec disloyalty charge, disbarred November '64)

4423 - could be fake - multiple stamps, not seen on any other; 13647 - 1st cartouche (book has WHR before RKW's final inspection mark)
